Applications of the six-dimensional (2,0) theories to Physical Mathematics

Abstract:

Physicists have argued for the existence of a hypothetical set of interacting six-dimensional quantum field theory with maximal superconformal symmetry. We will explain some of the physical intuition behind these claims and then dwell at length on various mathematical applications to BPS invariants, wall-crossing, Hitchin systems, HyperKahler geometry, and, time permitting, other areas of Physical Mathematics.
