Abstract:

The hyperbolic Yang-Mills equation falls into the class of nonlinear geometric wave equations, which also includes Wave Maps, Maxwell-Klein Gordon and other nonlinear wave models with geometric structure and a nontrivial gauge group.  The aim of these lectures is to provide an overview of recent joint work with Sung-Jin Oh, whose aim is to prove the Threshold Conjecture for the 4+1 dimensional energy critical Yang-Mills flow, and more.
