Abstract:
Wave packets are highly localized solutions to linear dispersive equations. These have proved to be well adapted to the study of evolution problems on rough backgrounds, and in particular to the study of quasilinear problems. The aim of these lectures will be to introduce various classes of wave packets, and to discuss their uses in various quasilinear settings, including nonlinear wave equations, nonlinear Schrödinger equations and water waves.
