Andreas Eberle receives the teaching award of the University of Bonn

Bonn, 22.07.2020. HCM’s Andreas Eberle was honoured with the teaching award of the University of Bonn. He is one of the four award recipients of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Last semester teaching was a new challenge as the semester only took place digital.

This year the award ceremony took place in the rectorate of the University of Bonn since the University festival had to be cancelled.

Andreas Eberle is professor at the University of Bonn since 2003 and has been a member of the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics for many years. His research is based on the combination of methods from probability theory and other branches of mathematics, including differential equations and functional analysis, numerical analysis, geometry, and mathematical physics.

During the last semester Andreas Eberle gave an advanced lecture on Markov processes and participated in an introduction to statistics for students wanting to become teachers.

The University of Bonn bestows the teaching award for excellent teaching or special merits related to teaching. Every faculty may grant a certain number of teaching awards depending on its size and number of students. The faculty’s internal nominations are based on student evaluations or the decision of committees highly influenced by the participation of students. This year’s awardees were chosen by the departments’ student councils, hence the students themselves.
